"Okay, this is going to sting little bit, so just stay still, and -"

"Ow."

"I know dude, but seriously..."

"OW."

"Fi, will you just chill out!"

"Oh my glob, OWWWW!"

"For a girl that is spoken of so highly as the badass human Adventuress of Aaa, you're kind of a wimp when it comes to pain."

"Shut up Marsh, you sleep with a nightlight..."

"... That doesn't even have to do with anything!" Fionna glared at him with a mocking grin. "Point made. Now I'll feel less bad for making your skin burn." Marshall Lee told her as he zeroed in on a huge scrape on Fionna's shoulder. "Now be quiet, I need to make sure I get all the dirt out so this won't get infected."

Fionna bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut. "I hate post-battle patch ups."

Marshall Lee laughed and dabbed her skin with the disinfectant solution. "Yeah, but that's price you pay for launching yourself into a fight uninvited." He glared at her.

"I was trying to help!" She said exasperatedly and threw her hands on the ground. "I thought you needed it! You could've warned me beforehand and told me you were fighting with a demon that breathes fucking fire when startled!"

"Well, I wasn't aware that you put 'unexpectedly jump into my vampire boyfriend's stress relieving session' into your agenda today! I mean seriously, Fi! And where the hell is Cake?!"

Marshall Lee looked around the tree house, it was completely silent, with the exception of the two young lovers quarreling on the floor, one fixing the other's booboos.

"She took Beemo to the Engineering Kingdom for a check up." Fionna explained, picking at a skull and cross bone patterned band aid on her shin. "She won't be back for a while... Do you really find me that bothersome?"

Marshall Lee looked at her, confusion and shock riddled in his expression. He slowly but down the gauze and the bandages he was holding and stared at her. "What?"

Fionna crossed her legs and looked at the ground, not wanting to be under the scrutiny of his gaze. "I mean... Since when do you need to go out and 'relieve stress'? And when was the last time we went adventuring as couple? I dunno, I just feel like I'm becoming a..." She trailed off as she felt tears prick in her eyes.

"A... What?" He asked softly, his voice barley above a whisper.

"A problem. To you."

Marshall Lee froze. He didn't know what would possibly make Fionna feel this way... He always told her how much he loved her, he always kissed her and held her, like she'd slip away at any moment. Wasn't that enough to show her?

It probably isn't, I suppose... He thought to himself.

He grabbed her hands and intertwined their fingers gently, as if her small, dainty hands would break like glass beneath his calloused ones, rough from years bass playing and monster slaying.

"Fi." He said, trying to get her to look at him. But the blue eyes he loved so dearly stayed on the floor, her tears staining the wood of the treehouse. "Fi, look at me, please."

She finally raised her head, her eyes, glazed with shining tears, meeting his dark ones. Marshall Lee felt his heart break inside his chest at the sight.

"Fionna, you are never, ever, in a million, billion years, ever going to be a problem to me. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me. You've shown me what it means to be truly happy. I didn't even know happiness existed until I met you." He paused and brushed his thumbs softly over her bruised knuckles. "I guess I've just been thinking so much about you lately, about how happy I am with you... And every day, you just keep growing. Growing older than me, away from me, along with Gumball, and Cake, and everyone else... And I'm upset, because I hate thinking about it. I can't stand the thought of... Y'know, the inevitable."

He couldn't even look at her, he feared that he would break down and cry.

She nodded in understanding, the tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. She held onto his hands tighter.

"I hate that you're just passing me by so fast... I'd give anything to just slow time..." He stood abruptly and went over to look out of the window, the cloudy day shielding the sun from all of Aaa.

He heard her stand up, her bare feet padding along the wood floor. He felt Fionna's arms circle around his chest, and her head resting against his back.

"I know how you feel." She whispered. "I think about it too."

They stood in silence for what felt like forever, her clinging to him like he was a life raft that was saving her from drowning. He never wanted her to let go.

Suddenly, she unwrapped her arms from around him, and moved so she was standing in front of him. She grabbed his face in her hands, and stood on her tip toes, pulling his face down to hers so she could gently press her lips to his.

Marshall Lee wound his arms around Fionna's waist, pulling her impossibly closer. After a few seconds, she broke away from their powerful kiss and rested her head on his chest.

And then in the smallest voice possible, so small he could barely make out the words, Fionna spoke.

"Then make me like you."

Marshall Lee's breathing halted. His eyes widened, and he grabbed Fionna's shoulders, pulling her away from his chest so he could watch her eyes.

"What?" he hissed incredulously.

Fionna, more determined this time, spoke each syllable so he'd hear it. "Make me a vampire, Marshall Lee."

He stared at her with unmoving, unblinking eyes. "No." He said harshly.

"Why not?!" Fionna was angry now, the fire in her eyes blazing.

"Because I can't do that to you Fionna."

"Can't do what?!" she threw her hands in the air. "Be with me for all an eternity of immortal life?! Yeah, because that would totally suck..."

He was equally as angry now, gripping his hair as if his mind were on the verge of explosion.

"No Fionna, you know that that is exactly what I want. I want to be with you forever, I don't want to see you go, but I cannot, I will not, put you through that kind of heartbreak. I have gotten used to it over the years, seeing all the people I care about coming and going like it's nothing, but you... Fionna, I just can't put you through that!"

She glared at him and stepped away from him. "So that's it, huh?" she spat coldly. "When I go, it'll be just like all the others? You'll just 'get used to it'...? That hurts, Marsh."

He glared back at her. "You know that's not what I mean Fionna!"

"No, I know what you mean Marshall Lee, you think that I'm not strong enough to watch all the people I love die before my eyes and to go on living without them. But I'll have you know that even with all them gone, I know I'd still have you there beside me to help me through it, because I love you more than anything in the world, and I know you feel the same!"

She was panting heavily now, all the shouting was making her exhausted. Marshall Lee could only stare at her, wide eyed and arms aching to hold her.

"Fuck..." He spat, holding his head up, and running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, that is how I feel. But... Fi... I just... Are you serious, though?"

She got closer to him, so close their noses were nearly touching. "Yes, I am."

He stared into her eyes, and he couldn't find a single trace of doubt. So he swallowed thickly and nodded, closing his eyes and putting his forehead against hers.

"You think you can do this? And eternity with me?"

Her stance, her gaze, never wavered. "Yes."

He opened his eyes, his love for the young human girl evident. "Okay." he said. "But it won't be easy."

"I know." She leaned up and kissed his bite marks on his neck, then placed her arms around his midsection. "I know..."

"So How are we going to do this exactly?" He held her to him without hesitation.

Fionna shrugged. "I dunno. You're the vampire. Shouldn't you be in charge of the biting and such?"

He chuckled humorlessly. "Yeah... I guess so. But do you want to do this like, soon? Or maybe tell Cake and see how she feels about it? She is you sister, after all..."

Fionna sighed and began to rock them back and forth slowly. "Yeah... But I already have an idea of how she'd respond to this wondrous news..."

He pressed a kiss to her forehead and looked at her beautiful face. He was finally getting what he had hoped for… He was just hoping she wouldn't regret it, or regret him.

"How about... We tell everyone the news at Gumball's birthday party this weekend?"

She nodded thoughtfully, then kissed him sweetly. "All right."

The shared an intense, intimate moment where they just stood there, in the middle of Fionna's messy house, holding each other and gazing into each others eyes.

"I love you." Fionna told him, a grin stretching across her face.

"I love you too." Marshall Lee, the same grin gracing his pale blue face.

I broke down and made another one shot. In this one, they're already together and stuff...

I feel like this ended awkwardly...

Whatever.
